Host Families wanted for Argyle Academy
We are on the lookout for local residents and families who have a desire to play their part in the development of the club's Academy talent for the 2025/26 season, and are interested in joining our fabulous team of Host Families.
The club is keen to hear from people who can provide a 'home from home' for our young players, with an environment that is high quality, safe and comfortable to live for our scholars as they undertake their busy weekly schedule and fixture programme.
This commitment may be on a full-time basis with our signed apprenticeships, or on a flexible part-time basis with our regular trialists.
You will be required to provide residential accommodation each week during the football season, alongside a nutritious evening meal, occasional lunches, and laundry facilities.
We are particularly keen to hear from those who live in areas near to the club's Home Park base, but will consider applications from all interested parties based in Plymouth.
The club is committed to safeguarding and the welfare of young people and adults at risk and expects all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.
Applicants will be required to undergo a full assessment with our club staff, including a home inspection and satisfactory and enhanced Criminal Record Check before a decision can be made of suitability.
A fee is payable to the host family for the duration of the placement.
If you think that you can work with the club to provide the best environment for our young footballers to thrive both on and off the pitch, or you would just like to find out more, then we would love to hear from you. Please click here and complete the form in order to express an interest, so we can contact you with more information.
Argyle Under-18s defender Harry Shield said: “My host family has been so important for me and my family since starting the Scholarship. Being away from home, it is so important to feel happy and comfortable. I’m really made to feel part of the family and get great support, which enables me to produce my best on the pitch.”
Argyle forward Freddie Issaka said: "Having a host family was a really important part of my career. It was my first time being away from home and they helped me feel so comfortable and settle in, which allowed me to just focus on football. I also can confidently say that I made relationships that will last for a lifetime, and still pop in on a regular basis now to see them."
