24-year-old Xavier Amaechi signed a three-year deal with the Greens in June 2025, becoming the first signing of Tom Cleverley's managerial tenure.

Born in England, Amaechi came through the youth set-up at Premier League side Arsenal, represented England at every youth level up to Under-20s, and was one of the most highly sought-after young prospects in the country before joining Hamburger SV in Germany.

He spent three years at the German side, which included loan spells with Karlsruher SC and Bolton Wanderers, before joining 1. FC Magdeburg in 2023. He went on to make 41 appearances for the club, scoring six goals in the process.
