Luca Ashby-Hammond signs for Argyle
Luca Ashby-Hammond has signed a deal with Argyle.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper has been on trial during pre-season, and now pens a one-year deal to become a permanent Pilgrim.
West London-born Luca came through the Academy at Premier League side Fulham and, after turning professional at Craven Cottage, had loan spells with Harrow Borough, Stockport County, Aldershot Town, Crawley Town, Notts County and Gillingham.
Luca has represented England at various age groups, all the way from under-15 to under-20. He has been assigned squad number 21.
“I’m very pleased Luca has agreed to join us,” said Argyle Head Coach Tom Cleverley. “He joined us in Austria, and it is not easy to come on a trip like that as a trialist, but he fit really well into the group. He has a calm, focused character, impressed us on the training ground, and adds depth to our goalkeeping department.”
Head of Football Operations David Fox added: “Luca showed us in his time on trial that he is a goalkeeper with a great deal of ability and, importantly, plenty of room for development. He has league experience, but is still young for a goalkeeper, and I know Darryl Flahavan is keen to work further with him. Luca has a great attitude to learn, and we’re excited with how we can help that.”
The signing is subject to EFL approval.
