Victor Palsson

International Round-Up | June 2025

A trio of Argyle players were in action during the June international break.

Victor Palsson played full nineties in both of his friendlies with Iceland, against Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The defender found the net at Hampden Park, heading in the last of his nation’s three goals in their 3-1 victory over Scotland, with Palsson generally impressing throughout the evening.

Another strong performance followed, as Iceland fell to a 1-0 defeat to Northern Ireland in Belfast. Positives to take, before World Cup qualifying resumes in September.

There was a possibility of Palsson facing off against Conor Hazard at Windsor Park, but the Argyle goalkeeper suffered an injury in the first half of their 2-1 loss to Denmark. Hazard played on to half-time in that game, but was subsequently withdrawn and left the camp early.

Maksym Talovierov featured once for Ukraine, coming off the bench in their 2-1 win over New Zealand.

Ukraine were competing in the Canadian Shield, an invitational tournament also featuring hosts Canada and Cote D’Ivoire.

Canada were crowned the champions, beating Ukraine in the first match before drawing to Cote D’Ivoire in their second, losing on penalties but doing enough to win the group.
