Charlotte Whitmore signs new Argyle contract
Charlotte Whitmore has signed a new contract at Argyle, confirming her place at Home Park for the 2025/26 season.
The Greens’ Player of the Season last year decided to return to the Theatre of Greens for the upcoming FAWNL Southern Premier Division campaign, despite having interest from other clubs.
Last season, Whitmore scored 14 goals, with her most notable coming at Plough Lane against AFC Wimbledon, with a brace and a last-minute winner. Through 92 games for Argyle, the forward has found the back of the net 36 times.
The Greens’ number seven explained how easy a choice it was to return, with the club playing a huge part in her life, and how last season’s learnt lessons can put Argyle in good stead ahead of their first season under Head Coach Marie Hourihan.
“I'm buzzing [to sign a new deal],” Whitmore told Argyle TV. “It's a great club and they're doing many things behind the scenes to push the Women's game on, so I'm excited to be a part of the season.
“It’s been really good with Marie. We're a week in now and have had a couple of sessions with her. She's lovely, fits in well with the girls and it's exciting to see what we're going to do for our pre-season.
“Last season was a bit of a building block, to be honest. We managed to stay up and that was the main thing but it was a big learning curve I think for myself and all the girls, but everything going on behind the scenes is exciting. They are doing so much with the new head coach and signings coming in, and the infrastructure here is one of the best compared to clubs in our league for sure. Getting to play at Home Park every week, not every team gets that privilege, so it's really exciting and I didn't want to miss out on that.
“I'm a Cornish girl, and Argyle is the closest professional club to me, so to be able to play here, at a very good level of football and get the support that we get is unbelievable. All my friends and family can come and watch every weekend as well!”
