Ayman Benarous signs for Argyle
Ayman Benarous has signed a one-year contract after a successful trial period with the club.
The versatile midfielder has spent the last week training with Tom Cleverley’s side following his release from Bristol City.
Benarous played 11 times for the Robins having come through their academy, with his time there largely disrupted by two serious injuries, but he has now returned to full fitness.
Argyle Head Coach Tom Cleverley is delighted to add the 21-year-old to his squad, commenting: “Ayman is a young player with brilliant potential and has impressed us all since he came in to train with the squad.
“He was highly thought of at Bristol City but unfortunately had bad luck with injuries. He’s shown everyone here during the last week the talent he has at his disposal.
“We are really pleased he has agreed to join us as he had a number of options to choose from but felt Argyle was the best place for the next step in his career.”
Argyle Head of Football Operations David Fox added: “Ayman will add real versatility to the squad as he can play in several positions across the midfield but also in defensive areas as well.
“It is great to get another player through the door so early in pre-season as Tom and his coaching staff continue to get their ideas across ahead of the League One season starting.
“He’s fully fit and has joined the squad out here in Austria and we look forward to seeing him in action in the coming weeks.”
