Argyle Women Sign Phoebie Poole

Argyle Women have boosted their frontline with the signing of prolific forward Phoebie Poole.

The 21-year-old most recently played for Oxford United, a team also in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division, and scored 18 goals in 27 appearances in both league and cup play, the fifth-top goalscorer in the division last season.

After starting her career in the Welsh Adran Premiership, Poole was given the chance to represent Wales at youth and senior level, after receiving a national team development camp call-up following experience with the Under-19s.

The forward scored a staggering 37 goals in 45 appearances for the Bluebirds, before making the switch to the FAWNL with Cheltenham Town. After one season in Gloucestershire, the move to Oxford followed, and she made it count with a season that saw her win the club's Golden Boot, Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year.

Argyle Head Coach Marie Hourihan said: “Phoebie is a fantastic addition to the squad. She’s got bags of potential and has already shown she can score goals in this league. We are really happy to have her on board for what should be a very exciting season.”

Christian Kent, Executive Lead for Women’s Football at Argyle, said: “Phoebie is a player with a great record and huge potential, so we're delighted she's chosen Argyle as the place to develop her game.

“We aim to not only build a fantastic pathway to nurture the South West's brightest young talents but also create a great environment for players to come to Home Park and reach the next step of their career. Phoebie is a player that has already demonstrated her record at Tier 3 and another singing that underpins the strategy of the club moving forward.”

Phoebie will wear the number 9 shirt. The signing is subject to league and FA approval.
