Argyle Sign Jack MacKenzie
Fresh from winning the Scottish Cup, Jack MacKenzie is becoming a Pilgrim.
The left-back has left Aberdeen, less than a week after the Dons beat Celtic on penalties to claim their first Scottish Cup in 35 years, and has signed a three-year contract at Home Park.
MacKenzie was born in Aberdeen in 2000, and was in the club’s youth system by the age of nine. His first experience of senior action came in 2020/21 with a loan spell at Forfar in the third tier of Scottish football, where he played 14 times.
After getting his first taste of football for Aberdeen’s first-team later that same season, he featured 115 times for his hometown side, scoring three goals.
Jack has also been called up for the Scotland squad, but is yet to make his senior national team debut.
Argyle Head of Football Operations David Fox said: “We are pleased to welcome Jack, who becomes our third signing of the close season already.
"This is a big move for Jack, moving away from his home town, swapping the North East of Scotland for the South West of England, but I've been really impressed with his desire to join the project here at Argyle.
“We see Jack as a very versatile player. He is able to play in multiple positions, and his adaptability and commitment were something we highlighted very early on in our recruitment of him.
"He is getting some well-earned rest at the moment, and will join us for the start of our pre-season campaign next month. We look forward to welcoming him to Argyle."
The deal is subject to EFL approval and international clearance.
